Case 1003 - Hamstring Rupture
Radiological Findings:
Area of high signal on STIR sequences seen in the posterior aspect of the proximal thigh. There is fluid signal surrounding the muscle of the posterior thigh and hamstring insertion. This represents acute edema with underlying muscle/tendon tear.
The coronal STIR images best show the rupture of the hamstring tendon insertion onto the ischial tuberosity.
Differential Diagnosis:
• Rupture hamstring insertion.

Rupture hamstring insertion.
